Manitouwadge provides update on restrictions

MANITOUWADGE -- The health and safety of residents is the Township's top priority as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. The Township of Manitouwadge is following directions from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, which is making decisions based on the provincial and federal response.

The provincial government has announced the lifting of certain public health and safety measures. The Ontario government will follow a phased approach to gradually easing COVID-19 restrictions, with 21 days between each step, starting Jan. 31.

Effective Monday, Jan. 31 at 12:01 a.m.

  • All indoor recreation and sports facilities are open with a reduced capacity of 50 per cent
  • Indoor meeting spaces are open with the safety precautions of 50 per cent

Residents are reminded to continue to follow all safety precautions to reduce the spread of COVID--19, including:

  • Physical distancing of six feet;
  • Wash your hands frequently;
  • Wear a face covering when out in public;
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell;
  • Schedule an appointment for a vaccine or booster, if you are able.

A reminder that proof of vaccination is required for all indoor recreation. Please have your QR code and ID ready when entering municipal recreation facilities for the purpose of participating in or spectating sports.

The Township will continue to work with our local, regional, and provincial partners to monitor the response to COVID-19 for the safety of our residents and will update the community with further information, if required.
