Manitouwadge Skating Club hosts busy weekend of fun activities

Manitouwadge Skating Club events included kid's fun zone, adult paint night, and skater/dance portrait session

There’s more to the Manitouwadge Skating Club than just lacing up the blades and heading out onto the ice.

This past weekend, the club hosted three exciting fundraising events with a kid’s fun zone, an adult paint night, and a skater/dance portrait session.

The kid’s Fun Zone, held at the Manitouwadge Rec Centre, was alive and hopping with all kinds of activities for the young ones. For a $15 entry fee, kids could let loose in the bouncy castle, get their face painted, play with the hoops, and ride the bikes and wheelie boards, not to mention climb the rock wall and eat popcorn till their ears popped. Cotton candy, pizza, and drinks were available at a nominal charge, with all the proceeds going to the Skating Club.

The adults had some fun at KG’s Bar and Lounge later that evening. Under the helpful, guiding hand of local artist, Sara Toye, folks got a chance to take the night off, chill out, and paint serene landscape masterpieces on canvas. Yummy food and drinks were served, completing the evening of relaxing entertainment.

On Sunday afternoon, Patricia Marie Photography was on-hand at ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’ church to take portraits of the dancers and skaters of Manitouwadge.

The club is grateful to all the volunteers who worked hard to make this weekend possible, and would like to thank all the businesses and organizations who are supporting them as they begin their first full year of operations in Manitouwadge. It takes a lot of enthusiasm and effort, but it’s one more activity for the town to enjoy and participate in over the long winter months.

All funds raised over the weekend will be used by the club to cover the cost of ice and rec centre rentals, training, and other expenses. You can find out more about the Manitouwadge Skating Club on their Facebook page.
