MANTIOUWADGE -- The Manitouwadge Volunteer Fire Department is providing tips to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

This week, the fire department is sharing winter storm tips to keep families warm and safe this winter season.

So far, the fire department has reminded residents how crucial it is to have a steady supply of heat in case of power outages, the importance of staying warm and keeping food cold

On Thursday, fire officials are urging residents to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning by having your fireplace and chimney cleaned before using it, never use gas generators, camping stoves or barbecues indoors; keep them in well ventilated areas and don’t use them for heating your home.
