MARATHON—Following the resignation of Marathon city counsellor, Chantal Gingras, in January, council has decided to appoint a replacement and advertise for applicants.

As a result, five applicants filed the appropriate forms and have been selected as eligible candidates to fill this vacant position.

Residents were informed that Council will be conduction interviews of the applicants with the following process:

  • Each of the nominees shall be afforded the opportunity to address council for a period of no more than 10 minutes.
  • Each candidate will be asked a series of questions which will be pre-determined based on input by council. Questions will not be shared with candidates prior to the meeting.
  • Upon hearing all the submissions of the candidates, council will deliberate and choose a replacement for the vacant office.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at Town Hall on March 7, 2022, beginning at 3:30 p.m. City council informed residents that they will then announce their selection at the March 14 council meeting.

For more information, residents can contact: Daryl Skworchinski, CAO/Clerk, (807)-229-1341 or at: [email protected]
