MARATHON—Volunteers of the Marathon Minor Hockey Association are hard at work preparing for their annual awards night, happening on May 8, 2022.

This year MMHA is presenting a new award in memory of Richard (Dick) Nichols, who passed away on November 2, 2020.  Mr. Nichols was a valuable contributor to MMHA, as well as Hockey Northwestern Ontario, (HNO). During his years of service to minor hockey in the region, Mr. Nichols was awarded the prestigious T.B. (Bones) McCormack Meritorious Award in 1996, and was one of the thirteen life members in HNO.

The Richard Nichols Memorial Award is presented to a current or former contributor to MMHA, who is considered a builder of minor hockey in the area, and who has served MMHA over a period of time.

MMHA called for public nominations, to be reviewed by their awards committee, and ending with their selection of this year's awards recipient. More information about this event can be accessed by emailing: [email protected]
