MARATHON — Residents in Marathon can make disposing of waste not only fun but also efficient, and good for the environment. Their municipality has partnered up with Tim Horton's and Phil’s Waste Services Office to celebrate “Pitch-in Day”.
Happening on Saturday, May 14, 2022, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., everyone can use the pitch-in-bags provided by their Community Services and Recreation Department, to place waste into.
This initiative is based on Pitch-In Canada a national not for profit charitable environmental organization, dedicated to what their website describes as “the preservation and sustainable growth of our natural ecosystems and communities.”
Over the years, Tim Horton's and Pitch-In Canada have partnered to promote environmental stewardship across Canada. Residents and organizations dedicated to environmental conservation will come together across Canada during Pitch-in Canada week.
For Marathon residents, the pitch-in-bags should be left on a visible location that day. Along the roadside would be best so that Marathon waste collection staff can do their pick-ups.
Residents who still need to pick up bags can still do so at Phil’s Waste Services Office, located at 83 Peninsula Road. The municipality encourages everyone to safe the date, and come out enjoy some treats, while they “Pitch-in!”
