MARATHON—Marathon Public Library (MPL) recently announced it is a recipient of the International Dyslexia Association of Ontario's $500 mini-grant to help our library purchase decodable books!

It recently shared the impact and importance of being able to provide decoded books. MPL further explained to its readers that “decoding” is the most efficient way to learn and instantly recognize a word. In addition, decodable books are purposely written to help beginning and emerging readers master decoding.

Ultimately, MPL’s announcement acknowledge that by providing readers with decodable books, it can help reading more enjoyable. Decodable books become resources for everyone, but they are especially helpful for individuals with dyslexia and reading disabilities.

Decodable books will be available for checkout Aug. 1, 2022.
