MARATHON — With Spring approaching and warmer weather becoming something everyone is looking forward to, the Township of Marathon reminded residents to do their part in helping to keep their community clean.

The spring snow melt, often makes unwanted items more visible on lawns. As a result, Marathon residents are being asked to remove these unwanted items from their property. It asks that everyone take the time to remove things such as “garbage, animal feces and inoperable vehicles”.

In doing so, the Township suggests that the members of the community will “avoid Property Standards Notices.”

According to the city’s Bylaw No.1734, which “provide standards for the maintenance and occupancy of property in the Town of Marathon”, all yards must be kept clean. It also states that, all property must be kept “free from rubbish, rubble or other debris and from objects or conditions that might create a health, fire or accident hazard, or an unsightly condition out of character with the surrounding environment.”

Spring clean-up is a time when we all look forward to cleaning our homes inside, and engaging in raking and cleaning our lawns and outside yards. The Township of Marathon asks that everyone does their part to help keep their community beautiful.
