Pet safety is of prime importance to pet owners and the Municipality of Marathon.

MARATHON—Pet safety is of prime importance to pet owners, pet families and the Municipality of Marathon.

In a recent notice, residents were reminded to abide by Bylaw No. 1788 which mandates that, “No owner of a dog shall permit the dog to run at large in the town.”

According to the municipality, “Keeping your dog on a leash provides safety for other people, other animals and your own dog.”

Failure to abide by this could result in a fine of $150.

Should residents require further information they are encouraged to contact: Rebecca Merritt, Bylaw enforcement officer at: 229-1340 ext.2250.
