MARATHON—The Municipality of Marathon invites everyone to take part in the Group of Seven Lake Superior Trail for the grand opening of the new Coastal Trail and ribbon cutting ceremony.
The ceremony is taking place on Friday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Marathon Boat launch.
The North Shore of Lake Superior is noted as one of the most attractive areas, possessing beautiful landscapes and breath-taking natural scenery.
It is said that this area inspired the founding members of Canada’s internationally renowned Group of Seven to take numerous painting trips, every autumn to the Marathon area between 1921 and 1928.
The Township of Marathon continues to take pride in celebrating this landscape and invites everyone to meet this Friday, Sept. 23.
While there is a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place, a highlight of the afternoon will be a guided hike of the new Coastal Trail.
