The Manitouwadge Golden Age Centre will be hosting a ‘Meet and Greet’ on Tuesday, October 11th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for candidates running in the upcoming Municipal Election.  All candidates have been invited to participate in the open house; there will be no formal speeches or debates, but members of the club and the general public will get the chance to chat with the candidates and hear about their strategies and plans for the future if elected.

Information about individual candidates, including their biographies and campaign platforms, are available in the October issue of ‘The Boreal’, the Township of Manitouwadge’s monthly newsletter.

The 2022 Municipal and School Board elections will take place by telephone and internet voting; there will be no paper ballots. A Personal Identification Number (PIN) has been mailed out to those citizens on the voter’s list, and many residents have already received them. If you do not receive your card by October 13th, you can contact the Municipal Office and they can issue one to you.

Although the official voting day is October 24th, ballots can be cast online between Friday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, October 24th at 8:00 p.m.

A video, which explains how to vote online or by telephone, is available on the Township website. A voter help centre will also be available at the municipal office for those who would prefer in-person assistance, or would like to use a computer or telephone during regular office hours (Monday to Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) They will also be open on voting day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Please take the time before the election to get to know your candidates. Your decisions will make an impact on your town for the next four years.
