Methamphetamine and firearm seized in Marten Falls First Nation

Two people are facing charges following an investigation on Tuesday.

MARTEN FALLS FIRST NATION -- A drug investigation in Marten Falls First Nation has led to the arrest of two people.

According to a Nishnawbe Aski Police Service release, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) Drug Enforcement Unit, along with members of the NAPS Marten Falls Detachment, conducted a drug investigation on Tuesday.

The investigation resulted in officers seizing an unspecified amount of methamphetamine along with a firearm. 

Police have arrested and charged Isaiah MAZINAKOUSKANG, 41, of Marten Falls First Nation with possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of firearm and possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order.

Adrienne OKEESE, 41 years old, of Marten Falls First Nation was also arrrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (Methamphetamine).

Both MAZINAKOUSKANG and OKEESE have been released on conditions and will next appear for court on June 15, 2022, in Marten Falls.

Marten Falls First Nation is located approximately 432 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
