Missing ATV driver found, charged with impaired

Police received a report of a missing ATV driver in the late hours of Friday, July 4 in the Dorion area.

DORION – A missing all-terrain vehicle driver has been found – and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Ontario Provincial Police in Nipigon said they were notified on July 4, at about 10 p.m., of a missing person, who was believed to be driving an ATV on a rail bed near Black Bay Drive in Dorion.

Police located the missing man and determined he was allegedly impaired by alcohol and drug. The driver failed a screening test and was arrested and taken back to the detachment for further testing.

The 67-year-old man, who resides in Pearl, was charged with operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration, 80 plus, and operation while impaired, alcohol and drugs.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Nipigon.
