MARATHON—A single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 has resulted in impaired charges for a Marathon resident.
According to a Marathon Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a call on Friday around 3:40 p.m. regarding a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 about five kilometres west of Marathon.
Police say the vehicle was traveling east on Highway 17 left the roadway and came into contact with the guard rail posts.
The driver left the scene but was locates shortly after.
The driver had no injuries and after further investigation and failing a road side test, it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
The Marathon resident was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old of Marathon was charged with operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, operation while impaired by alcohol or drugs, adult novice driver B.A.C. above zero and adult failure to report accident.
The driver was later released on an undertaking with conditions to attend court in Marathon on Jan. 20, 2022 to answer to the charges.
