Motorist charged with driving 167 km/h on Highway 11

GREENSTONE — A Mississauga man faces the prospect of hefty fines and plenty of inconvenience after he got caught speeding on Highway 11 in Greenstone.

Ontario Provincial Police said they tracked the 33-year-old's pickup truck travelling at 167 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Thursday.

The man, whose name was not released, was arrested for stunt driving and received a 30-day driver's licence suspension, while his vehicle was impounded at his expense for 14 days.

Police also charged him with careless driving and having an open container of liquor in the truck.

Upon conviction, the minimum penalty for stunt driving is $2,000 and six demerit points.
