Motorist charged with stunt driving on Highway 11/17

OPP tracked a vehicle travelling 57 kilometres an hour over the speed limit.

NIPIGON — A Quebec resident travelling through Northwestern Ontario will have to find an alternate means of transportation after being charged with stunt driving.

OPP were doing radar enforcement on Highway 11/17 near Nipigon on the weekend when they tracked a vehicle at 147 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and charged a 23-year-old man.

In addition to a heavy fine upon conviction, he lost the use of his vehicle for 14 days and had his driver's licence suspended for 30 days.

The man is scheduled for a court appearance in Nipigon.
