GERALDTON—The Municipality of Greenstone will be permanently reducing the posted speed limit on Michael Power Boulevard between Highway 11 and Old Arena Road to provide a consistent 60 kilometres an hour speed zone through this area.
The Township has also indicated that this section of road has also been declared a Construction Zone due to the highway realignment. The speed limit change is part of an overall strategy to address traffic safety in the area.
The new posted speed limit of 60 kilometres an hour will take effect Feb. 22, 2022.
The development of Greenstone Mine involves a realignment of Highway 11. The new section of Michael Power Boulevard and Highway 11 will move north approximately 1.5 kilometres from the current location.
A portion of Michael Power Boulevard will also be realigned to create a 90 degree crossing at the new intersection with Highway 11. Post-construction, Michael Power Boulevard will comprise of a 600 metre road section north of the highway intersection, and the short distance southwards to access the golf course.
