GREENSTONE—Graduating students in the Greenstone area were recently informed that applications are now open for the Greenstone Scholarship and Awards Program for 2022.

These scholarships and awards are aimed at promoting a commitment to education by providing eligible students financial assistance to continue their education journey.

The municipality stressed that eligible and successful applicants, will not be based on academic standing or Ward distribution. Instead, the key criteria will be the submission of a 500 – 1,000 word essay describing what the applicant sees as a way in which they would improve their community. Ultimately, their goal is to engage the graduate in such a way that makes entering an application for these financial incentives, meaningful.

The municipality will be awarding four $1,500 scholarships to Greenstone residents, entering and attending their first year of post-secondary education. (*subject to budget approval)

Other criteria identified by the municipality indicates that applicants must be graduates from Geraldton Composite High School and Ecole secondaire Chateau-Jeunnesse.

Qualified applicants must complete and sign their application by the deadline of May 1, 2022 at 4 p.m.

With the rising cost of post-secondary education, this opportunity will help any graduating student reach some of their after high-school goals.
