MANTOUWADGE -- With a rise in COVID-19 cases, the Township of Manitouwadge informed residents of new current restrictions affecting indoor municipal recreation facilities.
With the health and safety of all residents in mind, they offered information on Jan. 3 that was released when Premier Doug Ford announced the province would move back to a modified “STAGE 2”.
Their announcement stated that indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, indoor meeting spaces, their Library, and their Northern Trails Ski Club will be affected as the following COVID-19 regulations will be in place beginning Jan. 5, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. and remain until, Jan. 26, 2022.
The Municipality also reminded residents of all safety precautions that everyone needs to follow in order to continue to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

MANITOUWADGE, ON - The health and safety of residents is the Township's top priority as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. The Township of Manitouwadge is following direction from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, which is making decisions based on the provincial and federal response.
Effective Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at 12:01 a.m, the Province of Ontario will temporarily return to a modified version of Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen. Based on Ontario's response to the Omicron variant the following COVID-19 regulations are now in place at municipal recreation facilities until Jan. 26, 2022.
- All indoor recreation and sports facilities are closed including the arena and the Manitouwadge Fitness Centre;
- Indoor meeting spaces are closed, with limited expections, including public attendance at Council meetings;
- The Manitouwadge Public Library is open for operation with reduced capacity of 50 per cent occupancy;
- Northern Trails Ski Clus is open for operation with reduced capacity of 50 per cent occupancy.
Residents are reminded to continue to follow all safety precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including:
- Physical distancing of six feet;
- Wash your hands frequently;
- Wear a face covering when out in public;
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell;
- Schedule an appointment for a vaccine or booster, if you are able.
The Township will continue to work with our local, regional and provincial partners to monitor the response to COVID-19 for the safety of our residents and will update the community with further information, if required.
