MANITOUWADGE — Residents of the City of Manitouwadge are being encouraged to join in as a community and thank their Public Works Department during National Public Works Week. This initiative launched on May 15, and runs until May 21, 2022.

Throughout the week, the municipality wants to focus on how grateful they are for having such a dedicated staff who gives many hours of service and hard work to provide excellent service to their township.

They highlighted how while residents are resting at home, Public Works staff may be out working on broken water lines through the night or getting ready to start their 3 a.m. shift to clear snow after a heavy snow fall.

The municipality added that, "Public Works staff ensure that landfill sites are open and operational, and in the summer, they are out repairing potholes, regardless of the weather."

The theme for this year’s National Public Works Week is “Ready and Resilient”.

According to the municipality, the work Public Works does for their community each day, “provide a higher quality of living for us all.”
