MARATHON—Marathon’s Nawingiinokiima Forest Management Corporation (NFMC) is pleased to announce that their 2022 Pic Forest tree planting is complete. The company reported that 3,900,000 seedlings have been planted in the Pic Forest between May through to July 2022.
During that time 40 tree planters participated and over 2,000 hectares of forest was replanted. NFMC shared that, three species of trees were planted including: white spruce, black spruce and jack pine.
In their announcement NFMC stated how it prides itself on forest reforestation, stewardship and sustainability. The stated that, “We are pleased to report that the 2022 Pic Forest Tree Plant is now complete. Great work everyone.”
In addition, NFMC indicated that their 2022 White River Forest replanting has begun. Their reforestation program, supports the benefits that the forest provides us daily, including:
- Nurturing the soil
- Acting as carbon sinks
- Providing healthy foods to millions
- Serve as natural aqua ducks
- Hosts 80% of biodiversity on earth
