NIPIGON — One of Nipigon's councillors is stepping aside.
The township on Monday announced that John Zechner resigned from council.
Zechner was first elected in 2018 and secured re-election last fall.
Nipigon CAO Kelly Paakkunainen said council would be presented with options available under the province's Municipal Act to fill the vacancy at their meeting on Feb. 7.
Zechner's resignation leaves three councillors — Kathy Sakamoto, Gordon MacKenzie and Pierre Pelletier — alongside Mayor Suzanne Kukko.
