Nipigon OPP arrest impaired driver after call for service

Southern Ontario man charged with impaired by Ontario Provincial Police.

NIPIGON — A southern Ontario man is in jail for charges of impaired driving. 

OPP in Nipigon received complaints of a possible impaired driver on Hwy 17 on Aug. 1 around 10:20 p.m.

Nipigon OPP members patrolled and subsequently located the vehicle shortly thereafter.

Officers spoke to the driver and determined that the driver was impaired by drugs.

The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Nipigon Hospital Detachment for further testing. 

A 27-year-old man from Burlington was subsequently charged with impaired driving and failing to comply with a court order. 

The accused was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon at a later date.
