Nipigon Public Library wants your high school yearbook

Nipigon Public Library is asking for donations of Nip-Rock High School yearbooks.

NIPIGON — The Nipigon Public Library is looking to get their hands on some high school yearbooks from years gone by.

The library, which stores copies of yearbooks in its reference sections, recently issued a call out for years where some editions have gone missing.

Librarian Sumiye Sugaware said library patrons enjoy looking through the yearbooks.

“We want to be able to get enough copies of these yearbooks so that we can stock our reference section,” Sugaware said.

If residents and past students have duplicate copies, that they are willing to donate, she is hoping to fulfill three purposes.

“If we get enough copies we want to set up a set of these on our shelves, have a copy for our office, and a third copy for people to eventually be able to borrow,” she said.

In a recent Facebook post, the library listed the years for which they do not have Nipigon-Red Rock District High School yearbook copies. Sugaware is looking for donations of these copies, and shared too, another benefit for having these stored and available for lending by the library.

“Kids like to come in and look at these yearbooks. They love to see pictures of their parents who attended Nipigon-Red Rock High School in the past,” Sugaware said.

Sugaware encourages anyone who is willing to donate these copies to drop them off at the library.
