NORTHWEST REGION—By late afternoon of Aug. 23, one new fire has been confirmed in the Northwest Region.
Nipigon 18 is located approximately 24 kilometers south of the far north community of Webequie. The 2.5 hectare fire is not under control.
At the time of this update there are two active fires in the Northwest Region. One fire is not under control and one fire is being observed.
The wildland fire hazard is mainly moderate to low across the Northwest Region.
