One new forest fire confirmed in the Northwest Region

NORTHWEST  REGION—Aviation Forest Fire and Emergency Services reports that one new fire was confirmed in the Northwest Region by the late afternoon of Aug. 30, 2022.

  • Nipigon 19 is located near the far north community of Marten Falls on the Albany River. The 0.1 hectare fire is under control.

At the time of this update, there are three active fires in the far north of the region. One fire was under control, (Nipigon 19) and two fires are being observed, (Nipigon 18 and Sioux Lookout 4).

The wildland fire hazard is mainly low to moderate in the region with areas of high hazard in parts of the Thunder Bay and Nipigon sectors.
