OPP investigating fatal collision on Highway

A Red Lake woman was killed on Friday in a single-vehicle crash between Longlac and Highway 631.

LONGLAC, Ont. -- A 69-year-old Red Lake woman is dead after a single-motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 between Longlac and Highway 631. 

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release, say the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. last Friday. 

Police say the vehicle was travelling westward when it left the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries. 

The driver has been identified as 69-year-old Yvonne Samson. 

Police say members of the public stopped to assist at the scene and that the investigation, aided by the OPP's traffic management and enforcement team and the Office for the Chief Coroner of Ontario, continues.
