GREENSTONE — Provincial police are investigating two recent suspected overdoses.

Police said while the two deaths in the Greenstone area are not believed to be connected, the incidents are continuing to be investigated and are cautioning about the dangers of illicit drugs.

Police also warned people not to handle any unknown substances, saying some can be harmful and require proper protective equipment. Anyone who finds suspected illegal drugs is asked to contact police.

The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides some legal protection against drug possession charges for anyone who seeks emergency help during an overdose, or anyone else at the scene when first responders arrive.

Signs of an overdose may include difficulty walking, talking and staying awake, blue lips or nails, very small pupils, dizziness and confusion, extreme drowsiness, choking, gurgling ro snoring sounds, slow or weak breathing, and not waking up while shaken or shouted at.
