NIPIGON — Another motorist travelling through the Nipigon area has found out the hard way that OPP are vigilant for speeders, and that the penalties can include not just substantial out-of-pocket costs but a lot of inconvenience.

Police posted photos on the weekend after stopping a passenger vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to OPP, the car was travelling at 144 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

"Looking to catch the attention of the Nipigon OPP during the Civic long weekend?...One driver nailed it and now enjoys charges, a hefty tow bill, and a vehicle impoundment," stated a cautionary message posted on social media.

The motorist lost the use of the vehicle for at least 14 days and will have to pay impoundment fees after being charged with stunt driving.
