MARATHON – On the morning of March 26, Marathon OPP observed a stolen vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 17.

According to OPP, the officers also determined that the same vehicle was linked to stealing gas in White River.

Officers with the Nipigon and Schreiber OPP intercepted the vehicle near Jackfish Lake and deployed a tire deflation device to stop the suspect from fleeing.

As a result, a 28-year-old from Medicine Hat, Alberta, has been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, theft of gas, fleeing from the police, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on March 27.
