Provincial police confirm they have suspended an officer who has been the subject of complaints from Gull Bay First Nation.
An OPP spokesperson on Thursday confirmed that Sgt. Tammy Bradley has been suspended as a result of "new allegations" brought to the attention of the force, which is seeking an external police service to conduct a new investigation.
Earlier this year, Gull Bay Chief Wilfred King alleged that Bradley was involved in multiple incidents of misconduct in the community, including one in which a community member was said to have been picked up and dropped off on the side of the road 40 kilometres away in the summer of 2019.
King and his legal representation had demanded a meeting with OPP commissioner Thomas Carrique and that Bradley be fired.
The police spokesperson said Carrique and other senior OPP members met with King and other Gull Bay First Nation representatives on Nov. 28, in what was described as "an open and frank discussion surrounding the issues."
During that meeting, additional allegations were brought forward, the spokesperson added.
Before that meeting, the OPP had said the allegations involving Bradley were investigated by its professional standards unit. The findings of that investigation were communicated to the complainant, police said in a statement in October.
Prior to the suspension, Bradley had been reassigned to a different position elsewhere in the province that did not involve frontline policing.
