Paramedic charged after fatal ambulance/snow plow collision

A White River woman was killed in the February 2022 collision on Highway 17.

WAWA, ON — Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in connection with a fatal collision between an ambulance and a snow plow in February.

The collision claimed the life of a 68-year-old White River woman, Connie Halverson, who was an on-board patient in the ambulance.

Both vehicles were southbound on Highway 17 when the collision occurred on Feb. 20 near the intersection with Highway 519, about 40 kilometres north of Wawa.

Two paramedics were also injured.

OPP have charged 45-year-old Shani Larrett, a paramedic with Algoma District Paramedic Service, with careless driving causing death and careless driving causing bodily harm.

She is scheduled to appear in court in July.
