THUNDER BAY -- Those quick trips across the border will require a molecular COVID-19 test taken outside of the country.
The Canadian government on Friday announced it was lifting the waiver on PCR tests for trips of 72 hours or less in length, saying the new rules will come into effect on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
On Nov. 30 the Canadian government announced PCR tests would not be required for trips of 72 hours or less, but still required them for all trips out of the country longer than 72 hours.
The new rules stipulate the tests cannot be taken in Canada before leaving, as was previously allowed for trips of 72 hours or less, but instead must be taken ioutside of the country.
