The Chief Medical Officer of Health still recommends wearing masks in indoor areas of public settings.

HORNEPAYNE—The Porcupine Health Unit Hornepayne, continues to remind the public that the Chief Medical Officer of Health still recommends wearing masks in indoor areas of public settings.

In their view the Porcupine Health Unit feels that, “Regardless of where you are, you are encouraged to wear a tight-fitting mask, if you feel it is the right choice for  you.”

To make the choice easier and less uncertain, they suggest you consider the following questions:

- Are you or someone you live with at higher risk? (i.e. immunocompromised)

- Will you be able to keep your distance from other people?

- Will you be spending time indoors or in a poorly ventilated area?

Further more, they want the public to remember, masks are still required in higher risk settings until June 21st, 2022.

Examples of these higher risk settings include:

- public transit,

- long-term care and retirement homes,

- health-care settings,

- shelters, jails, and

- congregate care and living settings, including homes for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Should the public have any questions regarding the wearing of masks,  they are encouraged to call the Ministry of Ontario COVID-19 information line at 1-888-777-0730 or visit:
