SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning Friday for parts of the region.
According to Environment Canada, a Colorado Low is expected to bring a wintry mix of precipitation and then significant rainfall for Lake Nipigon - Wabakimi area beginning overnight Friday through Sunday afternoon.
Precipitation may begin as snow, ice pellets, or freezing rain before changing completely to rain Friday evening or overnight.
Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 millimetres are expected; however, locally higher amounts are possible especially for areas that receive thunderstorms.
The government weather agency also issued a special weather statement for Fort Hope - Webequie and Peawanuck area.
Snow, freezing rain and ice pellets are expected beginning Saturday evening. Freezing rain and ice pellets may last several hours over some locations with significant ice accretion.
Locations along and south of a line from Pikangikum to Ogoki may experience mostly rain before transitioning to snow on Monday.
Ice pellet and snow accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres by Monday afternoon.
