SUPERIOR NORTH -- Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of the region.

The government weather agency states showers and thunderstorms will move in from the southwest Friday afternoon, along with heavy rain nearing 50 millimetres.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Manitouwadge - Hornepayne
  • Marathon - Schreiber
  • Wawa - Pukaskwa Park
  • White River - Dubreuilville
