RED ROCK — The Red Rock Public Library has a unique way of reminding its young library patrons of the importance of recognizing the role that veterans and the Canadian Armed Forces play.
The library is featuring videos through the National Veterans' Week Speakers Program aimed at educating and developing an understanding for an appreciation of our Veterans and our Canadian Armed Forces, and features Canadian Veterans. The program began Nov. 5 and will continue until Nov. 11.
Red Rock Public Library CEO Nancy Carrier said the program is something that the library taps into every year.
“The reason we sign up for this every year is because we want to create as many services as we can for our community,” Carrier said, adding the program is run through the federal department of national defence.
Carrier said each of video is aimed at a specific age group. This week the library launched the videos aimed at youth from kindergarten to Grade 2. Upcoming will be a video for grades 3 to 12 and finally, a video for all ages will be launched.
Carrier hopes that these animated videos that are geared to the young people in her community will help promote their appreciation for what veterans have done and continue to do.
“We hope these resources will help you develop and understanding and appreciation for the role members of the Canadian Armed Forces play here at home and around the world,” Carrier said.
