RED ROCK—Red Rock Public Library (RRPL) patrons were informed of a change to their library app. OverDrive app users were told that the legacy OverDrive app will be discontinued in early 2023.
Library patrons are encouraged to switch over to the new Libby, reading app.
Until they do, they can still use the present legacy OverDrive app, but should upgrade to Libby soon. The library assures users that the new app is easy to use and is filled with useful, fun features.
In addition, RRPL informed their community that the Libby app is made by the same people, with the same goal to connect them to their library, books, audiobooks and magazines.
RRPL shared that they had originally launched the Libby app in 2017. "At that time the goal was to create a simple library app that built on the core abilities of the OverDrive app. They monitored what worked and what could be improved, deciding to continue to make both apps available," explained RRPL.
However, as a result of feedback from librarians and readers, RRPL concluded that, “Libby is now a great app for everyone and there's no longer a reason to have two apps that do the same thing. If you've enjoyed using the OverDrive app, we really hope you'll love Libby.”
