RED ROCK—The community of Red Rock, Mayor Darquise Robinson and several community organizations, joined together on Tuesday, June 7, to congratulate and present the Senior of the Year Award.
The annual senior’s luncheon was sponsored by the Friends of the Red Rock Public Library and the celebration witnessed a great turnout to honour the recipient.
This year Red Rock’s senior of the year is Agnes McClendon, who received multiple nominations from local residents and community members for her past and ongoing volunteering and work she does for the community.
Mayor Robinson congratulated McClendon, as she awarded her with the award. The mayor thanked her for all the work she has done for the community, from driving fellow seniors to appointments to coordinating the Golden Club’s BBQ’s and basket raffles.
The event was hosted by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. During the luncheon, the mayor acknowledged McClendon for a well-deserved award.
Robinson, offered her thanks to the Friends of the Red Rock Public Library for sponsoring the luncheon and expressed her gratitude to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for providing and hosting the lunch.
Other organizations who helped make this celebration for the Senior of the Year, McClendon, special, included Sweet Treats and More, who provided the luncheon cake and Marilyn Young, Red Rock Historical Society executive member.
Red Rock Golden Club executive member, Betty Dunlop provided updates on these organizations and Nancy from the Red Rock Public Library, also updated everyone on what the Friends of the Red Rock Library were sponsoring.
The senior luncheon recognized a community resident who demonstrated her dedication to helping others in her community.
Congratulations McClendon for being awarded the Senior of the Year Award.
