TERRACE BAY—The Superior North Catholic District School Board raised the Pride Flag for the first time on Wednesday, June 1.

In their notice to their school community they shared, “June will be the first time that the Superior North Catholic District School Board will fly the Pride flag at all our schools, as many other Catholic schools do in the province of Ontario.”

The board added that, “This decision was made with the support of our school trustees. We are an inclusive, welcoming, non-discriminatory Catholic school board that respects human rights. Any person in our schools has the right to work and learn in a respectful and safe environment.”

This is a significant event as Canada also launches Pride Month, which is June, and raises the Progress Pride Flag on Parliament Hill.
