Residents of Geraldton and Longlac to see Bell Canada broadband expansion

Residents of Greenstone informed of Bell Canada broadband expansion project.

GREENSTONE -- In a recent notice to their community, the Municipality of Greenstone informed residents that the municipality has been informed that UTS Consultants, an authorized Bell Canada partner who design Fibre to the Home for Bell Canada’s Broadband Expansion, will be in the communities of Geraldton and Longlac during the month of September.

As a result, UTS Consultants Inc., will be gathering survey information on utility poles.

Furthermore, Municipality’s notice, indicated that since some of these poles are in the “Right of Way" areas in backyards, and therefore, workers may be contacting some residents should access be required.

This work is being conducted as part of a Government Subsidy program, Unified Broadband Fund (UBF).

As described by the Government of Canada, the Universal Broadband Fund is a part of the Government’s plan to connect all Canadians known as the “High Speed Access for all: Canada’s Connectivity Strategy”.
