Marathon—Summer walking and hiking will soon be another truly great adventure, as the Township of Marathon prepares to celebrate the grand opening of Peninsula Hill Trail.
Scheduled for June 26, Peninsula Hill Trail is appreciated for its beautiful landscape, and for its association with the Group of Seven Trails. The North Shore of Lake Superior is noted as one of the most attractive areas, possessing beautiful landscapes and breath taking natural scenery.
It is said that this area inspired the founding members of Canada’s internationally renowned Group of Seven to take numerous painting trips every autumn to the Marathon area between 1921 and 1928.
The Township of Marathon continues to take pride in celebrating this landscape and invites everyone to meet on June 26, at 1:30 p.m. The township has made parking available at Pebble Beach.
While there, refreshments will be available and a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place. A highlight of the afternoon will be a guided hike of the Peninsula Trail.
