MARATHON— Residents are asked to note that road sections on Nicolet and Steedman will undergo resurfacing and rehabilitation work during the months of May and August.

Taranis Contracting Group was awarded the contract to complete the work on Nicolet and Steedman Road. The proposed start date is May 30, 2022, from this date until the date of June 27th 2022.

The Town of Marathon informed residents that Taranis will do the less invasive work including ditching, culvert flushing, concrete removal and replacements, and culvert replacements. The roadway will remain open while progressing through the work to ensure that school transportation is not disrupted.

The town added that after June 27, Taranis will proceed into more invasive aspects of the project such as the asphalt removal and paving. They clarified that, “The scope of work includes removal, and replacement of culverts which impacts the need to remove existing culverts, sections of concrete, asphalt or interlocking driveways. All affected areas will be replaced or reinstated, a couple of sections will have culverts removed and new ditches established.”

Residents were assured that one-lane traffic would be maintained in each direction to local traffic; but to expect traffic delays during construction.

Work is expected to be complete by Aug. 15, 2022.
