The search for two missing men continues as their plane is yet to be found six days since disappearing 60 kilometres north of the Sault.
On Wednesday, there were up to nine aircraft searching around the last known position of the missing plane, as well as along its flight plan.
An air taskforce headquarters has been set up in the Sault, as multiple facets of search and rescue are working together to find the missing plane and its two occupants.
Captain Chris Dubé is the public services officer for the local taskforce and says the efforts of teamwork being displayed are exemplary.
“There’s a tight partnership between the air force, civilian assets, coast guard, and the OPP,” Dubé says. “All partners are working collaboratively in efforts to locate the plane.”
Weather conditions have been hit-or-miss over the last week, but Wednesday has been one of their better days for searching.
“The weather is favourable today with reasonable conditions,” Dubé says. “But we’ve received reports that will likely change and may impact our search and rescue plans.”
All search and rescue efforts from the local task force are through the air as terrain is heavily wooded and often covered in lots of recent snow.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre out of Trenton will continue to post updates regarding the search on their Twitter account @JRCCTrentCCCOS.
