UPDATED: School bus involved in Highway 11 collision

A student and the driver of a pick-up truck sustained injuries after a collision on Highway 11 in Greenstone involving a school bus.

GREENSTONE, Ont. – A student sustained minor injuries when the school bus they were riding collided with a pick-up truck on Highway 11 in the municipality of Greenstone on Tuesday The driver of the pick-up was also transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.

OPP officers from the Nipigon and Greenstone detachments responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the highway around 12:30 p.m. along with Superior North EMS and Beardmore Fire Department, the OPP said in a release.

The incident closed Highway 11 for several hours Tuesday. The highway was reopened to one lane by around 4:30 p.m., according to Ontario 511, with traffic control in place.

Police said one student was transported to hospital for minor injuries, while the driver of a pick-up truck was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre for injuries sustained during the collision. Police did not describe the nature or severity of those injuries.

The investigation was under investigation by the OPP.
