Schreiber arena up for repairs

The Schreiber Arena ice is expected to be ready in late October, following repairs to its ice plant.

SCHREIBER, Ont. -- Schreiber's town council has approved repairs to the Schreiber Arena's ice plant.

Mayor Kevin Mullins said the facility required rebuilds of its compressor and motor. The job is expected to cost around $16,000.

The work is expected to begin on Oct. 3.

If all goes according to plan, the arena ice will be ready on Monday, October 24, Mullins said.

The arena is home to the Schreiber Filanes Junior B team, the Schreiber North Stars & Filane’s Falcons Minor hockey teams, Schreiber Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club, Ladies Shinny, the Fallen Stars old-timers league, and the No Body Contact League, according to the township.
