INTRO: With winter close at hand Schreiber Discovery Centre and Railway Museum announced it is closed for the season.
SCHREIBER—Schreiber’s Discovery Centre and Railway Museum is closed for the season. A huge thank you to everyone that visited the centre and to the staff and volunteers for a job well done, was expressed by town Mayor Kevin Mullins.
The facility had over 37 hundred visitors since it opened in early July. In a conversation with Al Cresswell, CFNO, Mayor Mullins, thanked the students who worked at the museum then the senior who took over when the students went back to school and Ray Gionet for his endless hours of work.
The staff at the museum reported that over 900 visitors were greeted since September 3rd. They too expressed their thanks to the volunteers who helped make the season so successful.
The museum officially closed on Oct. 16, 2022.
According to Mullins the attraction is Schreiber’s key tourist attraction and has been a town staple with a colorful history since it was first built in 1924. It continues to highlight the community’s history, one of the oldest railway communities in the North shore of Lake Superior.
The museum is slated to re-open Victoria Day weekend in May.
