SCHREIBER — Provincial police performed a unique rescue on Thursday night.

Officers with the Schreiber OPP were called into duty to free a bear cub that was stuck in a trap line designed for smaller animals.

Police received the call just after 8:30 p.m. that a bear was reported to be in distress on Worthington Road east of Schreiber.

The officers found the cub and were able to manipulate the device to free the animal.
