SCHREIBER – Schreiber's town council has approved the sale of a vacant parcel of property, something Mayor Kevin Mullins says bodes well for the community's future.

Council approved a bylaw for the sale of a parcel of land at 121 Ontario Street at a meeting on Tuesday.

The sale had conditions attached including that construction must commence within two years' time, said Mullins.

“The person has submitted plans to build, and we actually know [them]," he said. "They're a Schreiber person and we're pretty excited about selling the land and them coming back to Schreiber.”

While no more information about the sale was disclosed, Mullins said that he and council were pleased with the deal.

“We [have] lots and actually, that's not the only iron in the fire... After the election, we're going to be going after the government for money for housing of all kinds,” he said. “So, we were pretty excited about passing the bylaw last night for this sale of land."
