Search warrant leads to five arrests in Longlac

Fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and cocaine, along with other drug paraphernalia and cash have been seized following search warrant.

LONGLAC – A search warrant on a residence in Longlac has resulted in multiple drug-related charges.

Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police, Greenstone OPP Community Street Crimes Unit, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on Tuesday, Jan. 25 on a residence as a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

As a result of the search, police seized a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and cocaine, along with other drug paraphernalia and a large sum of Canadian currency.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $3,730.

 The following individuals have been charged with;

Ashley OSSIBENS, 32, of Longlac has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I Substance and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Sean PIERRE, 18, of Scarborough has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I Substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer. 

Robert SALAMIC, 45, of Longlac has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I Substance and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

A 19-year-old from Ajax has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I Substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failure to comply with sentence and obstructing a peace officer. 

A 17-year-old youth from Scarborough who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule I Substance, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with sentence.

SALAMIC and OSSIBENS were release from custody by way of undertaking and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on Wednesday March 30 to answer to their charges.

The other three accused made a brief court appearance on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay by video and were remanded into custody.
